Sir Alex Ferguson & Carlos Queiroz
The Manchester United duo, Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlos Queiroz, is asked to explain the comments they made, after Manchester United were kicked out of FA Cup, by the Football Association.

Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, showed his anger on a television interview by saying that referee Martin Atkinson had been ‘on Portsmouth side’ when he denied a possible penalty on a challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half. He accused the Chief referee, Keith Hackett, that ‘he is not doing his job properly’.
Sir Alex’s assistant, Carlos Queiroz, gave remarks about Atkinson as a ‘robber’ in a newspaper report. He added that the referees should be given red card and replaced by someone else during a match.
Sir Alex said: “It’s absolutely ridiculous. I cannot explain it. Managers get sacked because of things like that and he’s going to referee a game next week.”
The FA said in a statement on its Web site (thefa.com) on Tuesday that both the parties should give explanation about this issue by next Wednesday, i.e. 19 March 2008.
