Barcelona fails to impress with Almeria draw

After 2 devastating defeats The Barbarians (Barcelona) drew the match against Almeria.

Last night Barcelona had a golden opportunity to decrease the gap with Real Madrid who are on top of the table with 62 points. Barcelona who are at 55 points were not able to win the match and secure all points. Samuel Eto’o was playing his 100 appearance and tried his best to make is a memorial one. He even scored a goal with the assistance for France’s striker Thierry Henry who entered the field at 54 minutes.

Barca, missing a host of familiar names including Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho, were down another man when Argentinian Milito was sent off in the 72nd minute after picking up a second yellow card.

The final Score was 2-2.  Barcelona will have to play a lot more better to reach the top of the league!

QPR’s billionaire owners ready to splash out on Figo

Luis Figo
The billionaires of Queens Park Rangers are close to completing the extraordinary signing of former Real Madrid star Luis Figo.

QPR owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone and steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal believe the 35-year-old former world player of the year can spearhead a return to the Premier League next season under the management of Italian Luigi De Canio.

Talks between Rangers and Figo’s representatives have been taking place over the past few weeks and only minor details need to be cleared up before the Portuguese midfielder makes the switch from Inter Milan when his contract expires at the end of the season.

He kicked off the era of the galacticos at Real Madrid when he joined in a hugely controversial £35 million deal from hated rivals Barcelona in 2000, which enabled Florentino Perez to be elected as club president and sign Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham in subsequent seasons. He was the 2000 European Footballer of the Year and voted FIFA World Player of the Year in 2001.

Gilberto admits that he might leave Arsenal.

Gilberto Silva
Gilberto Silva (Brazilian Midfielder) has admitted that he might leave Arsenal at the end of the season if he doesn’t get back in the team.

Gilberto, 31, is growing increasingly disillusioned after being replaced by Mathieu Flamini in midfield and losing the club captaincy to William Gallas at the start of the current campaign.

Gilberto still has a one year contract left with Arsenal but he has linked with moving to Juventus.

He also said;

“I love the club and Arsene Wenger is a good man and a good manager but there are only two months to go and I haven’t played much.

“I’m trying to adjust to the situation, but I confess it’s not been easy.”
