The English Premier League continues as the giants of England; Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, hunts the number one spot.
This week, Arsenal moves to second position as Manchester United moves to the number one spot on goal difference.
Arsenal played against Middlesbrough on 15th March 2008 at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners, who are out of form and facing injury crisis, were unable to record victory against Middlesbrough, making it their 4th draw match in a row. The late goal by defender Toure of Arsenal helped them earn one point as they moved to 67 points.
On the other hand, the team in full form, Manchester United, is on the road to the top. Their ‘not so impressive win’ over Derby at away let them at 67 points. This victory earns the Red Devils the first position of English Premier League on goal difference. But they still have a game in hand and sealing another victory against Bolton on 19th March 2008, will surely give them a 3 points lead from Arsenal.
The number 3rd team, Chelsea, is retrieving back to the title race. The Blues secured 3 crucial points against Sunderland on 15th March 2008 after a 1-nil victory. The Blues are just three points behind the top two teams, with a game in hand, after their 12th unbeaten game. They are facing their rivals and Carling Cup enemies, Tottenham Hotspurs on 19th March 2008 and a victory over them would move Chelsea on the second spot sharing with their London rivals, Arsenal.
To add more fuel to this title race, the weekend of weekends is coming with the matches no one would have even imagine. The English Premier League matches on Sunday 23rd March 2008 are:
Man Utd vs Liverpool
Chelsea vs Arsenal
The top four giants including the top three teams for the title race are into action. This weekend would be the weekend of English Premier League.
All three of them, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are out of the FA cup and unable to win the Carling Cup this year. They are able to secure spot in the UEFA Champions League, but for all of them, lifting English Premier League is essential.
Chelsea’s new manager is desperate to add this trophy in his record so he could secure his job at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal is unable to secure any trophies since 2003/04 where they won the English Premier League with out even loosing a single match!
Manchester United should atleast win English Premier League if unable to snatch the toughest European trophy (Champions League).
So for them, it’s not a sport, it’s a war. And they have only one choice, TO WIN IT!!!
So who will win this year’s English most valuable football trophy, English Premier League?
