Soccer Tricks (Ground)

Bicycle Kick: AKA: (The Pele Kick) when the ball is coming at you, you jump up in the air with your back parallel to the ground and kick the ball. When complete you land on your back. Bicycle Kick

Clayton: If you are on the line with your back facing the line and a defender face in front of you, drag the ball with your foot as if you were going to the corner flag. Than, as the ball is moving throw the foot you dragged with around the ball and cruyff with your other all in one motion. Now, you can dribble inward or put a nice cross into the 18.

Cross-Legger: AKA: (Maradona Kick) when the ball is on the right side of you, you bend your right knee and bring your left leg BEHIND your right knee and kick the ball. (Good for awquard situations, and off-leg kicks) Cross-Leg Kick

Cryuff Turn: take your right foot, and act as you are going to shoot the ball (or pass) and then at the last moment just push it behind your left foot, and run that way. Cruffy Video (Near Bottom)

Dance: (AKA: Taps) While dribbling, if you are in a position where you can stop, put your foot on the ball than start doing tip-taps (jumping while alternating feet touching the top of the ball) to slow the pace down for a sec, to decieve your defenders. You think it sounds ridiculous, but when a defender sees you do that, he will lunge and throw himself into you, while you are easily able to cut/drag the ball around him.

Double SON: (See SON) take left foot step-over the ball to the right, use right leg to kick ball behind the left leg, then plant left foot, step-over the ball (WITH your right foot) to the left, and use your left foot to kick it behind your right foot. (Just doing the basic SON twice)

Drag-Step Over: take your right foot and kick toward the left, and as soon as you kick it to the left, take your right foot and do a step over to the right, then continue going left. It’s a great move if you can get your timing right…Like knowing when to do the step over and all.Zidane Step-Over: a great move I just saw watching in one of Zidane’s movies. He is running toward a defender, and steps over (his right foot went over the ball to the left) then he scooped the ball up with his right foot (as it rolled up on it) and just cut back right Zidane’s Move (21st Second)

Maradona - Dribble with the ball and roll the ball with the sole of your right foot diagonally to the right and back towards you. Then do a spin so your back is now facing the way you were dribbling. As you do the spin, collect the ball with the sole of your left foot and roll it back. Keep following through with your spin. Once you complete the spin, take off with the ball; controlling it first with your right foot.

Rainbow Kick - Start with the ball behind your left heel and with the instep of your right foot on the back of the ball. (directly behind your heel . . . with the ball inbetween) Lean forward a tad bit and roll the ball up your heel. Once it rolls up a little, flick the ball up and over your head.

Elastico - Use the toe/outside of your dominant foot and push the ball from the bottom left and quickly “flip” your foot around to the side the ball it is going, and push it back the other way. Explode away.

Fake (Lunges): just lunging with your left or right leg as if you are going that way then come back to your original position.

Nutmeg: pulling the ball back with your right foot toward your left foot and using your left foot kick it through your opponent’s legs (it can also be any movement resulting in the ball going between your oppoenent’s legs)

Roulette (Zidane 360): a standing version of the Maradona, but at no time do both feet come off the ground at the same time.

Sombrero: when defender is coming at you with speed, just scooping the ball up and over his head as he speeds by.

Leap Frog: easiest move EVER, no skill required, but no flash either. Using your left or right foot, just scoop the ball up (as you’re running by the defender) and over his feet, so he has no chance to stop it.

Freeze Frame: I learned this from an Italian (great if done right). But you start leaning one way like you’re going to fall, then lunge quickly, then just stop, and go back to normal stance and THEN blow by him, the first lunge (that is stopped) should throw him off balance.

The Mexican - One of my personal favorites. When you have a defender or two (preferably two) infront of you and kinda to the side, grab the ball with your ankles or insteps and jump with the ball past and inbetween them.

7/10 Split- when you are approaching a defender fake one way (say the left) and just slide the ball to the right, and then GO to the left, and it’ll confuse the defender, and he won’t know which way to go.

5/10 Split- this has to be at a standstill, but take your right foot and kick the ball towards the left foot and your left foot kicks the ball around the defender as you’re going the other way.
