Jens Lehmann feels the club could miss out on silverware this season due to a lack of experience. “The current squad doesn’t have the experience because they haven’t done it,” he said. “There are some very good players, but it is not only quality that matters but stamina and experience as well.”

Frank Lampard said the players attempted to block supporters’ criticism of manager Avram Grant from their minds as they beat Arsenal 2-1 on Sunday. “The fans are emotional and call it as they see it,” Lampard said. “You hear it but don’t take it in. What matters is what you do on the pitch.”

John Arne Riise admitted Javier Mascherano “got a little too hot” over his dismissal at Manchester United on Sunday, but questioned the controversial decision. “I don’t know what was said,” the Norwegian said, “but the referee should have called Steven Gerrard to him before this.”

Manchester United

The midfielders Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani have both pulled out of the Portugal squad to play Greece in a friendly tomorrow after the pair picked up knocks during Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool. Ronaldo is suffering from pains in his left leg, while Nani pulled a muscle in his right leg.

Kaka: I Am Indebted To Milan

Kaka was relatively unknown in Europe when he joined the Rossoneri from Sao Paulo in 2003, however he soon developed into one of the best players in the world. He also got the Best (World and European) Player of the year Award Last year. Kaka said: “I wanted to play at one of Europe’s great clubs and Milan were the only ones to make an offer.”

Kaka also admitted that, “This club gave me the opportunity to realise my full potential and changed my life – I owe them for that.”

Kaka then once again stressed that he has no intention of leaving Milan, following reports that Real Madrid are yet again preparing a summer transfer bid for him. Another indication was Kaka signing a 3 year contact with Ac Milan last month.

Vidic Happy To Be ‘New Steve Bruce’

Manchester United centre back Nemanja Vidic has spoken of his pride after being compared with former Red Devils stalwart Steve Bruce.

Vidic said, “I used to watch games on TV in Serbia so I know all about the players who have been at United for the past 15 years.”
“I am proud to follow those players. Of course I heard about Pallister and Bruce, and I know it was a big partnership that won trophies here. But I didn’t watch them especially and I only found out how much they were appreciated when I came to the club.”

Steve BruceBruce had a wonderful nine-year career at Old Trafford from 1987 to 1996, winning a whole host of domestic trophies, including three Premiership titles, three FA Cups, as well as a European Cup Winners Cup. The former defender was famous for his brave, never-say-die attitude, and for the excellent partnership he had with Gary Pallister at the heart of the United defence. He had a total of 309 appearances with 36 goals.

“I’m very glad when people compare me and Rio to such good players. It’s obviously a very big compliment,” the Serbian international concluded.
