Vidic Happy To Be ‘New Steve Bruce’

Manchester United centre back Nemanja Vidic has spoken of his pride after being compared with former Red Devils stalwart Steve Bruce.
Vidić signed for Manchester United for a reported fee of around £7 million on January 5, 2006. Till then he has made a total of 64 appearance for Manchester United and 4 Goals. His favorite position is Centre Back But for manchester he plays in the wing.
Vidic said, “I used to watch games on TV in Serbia so I know all about the players who have been at United for the past 15 years.”
“I am proud to follow those players. Of course I heard about Pallister and Bruce, and I know it was a big partnership that won trophies here. But I didn’t watch them especially and I only found out how much they were appreciated when I came to the club.”
Bruce had a wonderful nine-year career at Old Trafford from 1987 to 1996, winning a whole host of domestic trophies, including three Premiership titles, three FA Cups, as well as a European Cup Winners Cup. The former defender was famous for his brave, never-say-die attitude, and for the excellent partnership he had with Gary Pallister at the heart of the United defence. He had a total of 309 appearances with 36 goals.
“I’m very glad when people compare me and Rio to such good players. It’s obviously a very big compliment,” the Serbian international concluded.
