Pires has confirmed his stay at Villarreal by signed a one year contact

Veteran French international Robert Pires has agreed to a one-year extension to his contract with Spanish first division side Villarreal, the club announced on Thursday.
The 34-year-old midfielder’s current contract took him through to the end of this season in June but he had made it clear he wanted to stay on for another year.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Juande Ramos has reaffirmed his determination to keep hold of Dimitar Berbatov, while expressing his interest in Barcelona’s Ronaldinho.

Berbatov’s future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of ongoing speculation this season, and it was rumoured Manchester United were close to making a January move for the Bulgarian international.
he 27-year-old opted to stay at White Hart Lane; however his agent - Emil Dantchev - recently stated that the Spurs star would consider an offer from Milan, if the Italian giants ever come in for him.
But Ramos is adamant that Tottenham will fight to keep hold of the in-demand Berbatov.

Terry wants armband back
John Terry has vowed to do everything he can to ensure that he is named as England’s captain on a full-time basis.
The Chelsea defender was installed as national skipper under previous boss Steve McClaren, but uncertainty continues to rein as to whether he will keep the job under Fabio Capello.
The Italian coach has made it clear that he intends to rotate the captaincy between a number of leading candidates before making a final decision once the World Cup qualifiers get underway in September.
Despite seeing Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand lead the team out in Capello’s first two games in charge, Terry insists that he is still the right man for the job and is determined to wrestle the armband back in the coming months.

Premier League giants Chelsea announced a mini-Asian tour on Thursday but said they may have to cancel the Malaysian leg if their Israeli coach Avram Grant is not allowed into the country.
Malaysia doesn’t has good terms with Israel and their Citizen. Chelsea has to Israelis; Chelsea manager Avram Grant and the midfielder Tal Ben Haim.
Chelsea has decided that they wont go to Malaysia without these players. The Football Association of Malaysia told a press conference that tour organisers would raise the issue with the foreign ministry in order to obtain clearance for the pair.

Sami Hyypia looks likely to end the speculation surrounding his future by penning a new deal with Liverpool.

Hyypia’s contact is due to expire after the summers and there was uncertainty if Liverpool will extend his contract or not.
The veteran centre-back has been a revelation on Merseyside since being snapped up from Dutch side Willem II nine years ago and has made no secret of his desire to complete a decade of service for the club. Despite turning 34 in October, Hyypia has made 37 appearances for the Reds this season and shows no signs of letting his immaculate standards slip.
